Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC of Acesulfam K was derived from a test on ready biodegradability, resulting in a test concentration of >140 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
140 mg/L

Additional information

An anaerobic toxicity test on gas production of microorganisms did not show any toxicity to anaerobic microrganisms up to the highest test concentration of 2500 mg/l. It should be noted, however, that the present test is not current standard anymore, but a toxicty to microorganism can be excluded, as in two tests on biodegradation (ready and inherent) no toxic effects to microorganisms could be observed. The lowest test concentration without toxic effects was derived from the test on ready biodegradability. No effects were observed over a period of 28 days at a mean test concentration of 140 mg/L. According to the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety assessment, it is justified to use this value as the NOEC for the calculation of the PNEC STP.
