Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH annex X section 9.2.1.4, long-term toxicity testing on sediment organisms shall be proposed by the registrant if the results of the chemical safety assessment indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the substance and/or relevant degradation products on sediment organisms. The choice of the appropriate test(s) depends on the results of the chemical safety assessment. Silicic acid (H4SiO4), zirconium(4+) salt (1:1), reaction products with sodium hydroxide does not meet the criteria to be classified as a dangerous substance to the environment. In particular, the results from the ecotoxicity tests performed on organisms from the aquatic and terrestrial compartment do not reveal any adverse effects. As a non-classified substance (for the environment), silicic acid (H4SiO4), zirconium(4+) salt (1:1), reaction products with sodium hydroxide does not require an exposure assessment and a risk characterisation. In the absence of risk characterisation, no refinement is necessary, especially for the PNECs. As a result, there is no need to launch a test for the sediment compartment.
