Reference
Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
June 2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Test conducted according to recommended guideline and test method with possible limitations due to the chemical nature of the substance.
Remarks:
The test was conducted according to recommended guideline and test method. However, it is recognized that for halogenated substances test results may be very difficult to reproduce (ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria. Version 5.0. July 2017). The substance is a Fluorinated and Chlorinated ether and therfore the test result here reported may have some limitations which are impossible to estimate at the current state.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 13736 (Petroleum products and other liquids - Determination of flash point - Abel closed cup method)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
BS 2000 Part 170
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
non-equilibrium method closed cup
Flash point apparatus:
Abel apparatus
Specific details on test material used for the study:

Key result
Atm. press.:
1 009 hPa
Remarks on result:
no flash point - measurement carried out until boiling temperature
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The closed-cup flash point temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane has been determined to be NFTB (No flash to boiling).
Executive summary:

This test covered the determination of the closed cup flash point temperature of the test item, in air, at atmospheric pressure.

It was conducted in accordance with ISO 13736 BS 2000 Part 170. This test method covers the determination of the closed cup flash point temperature (using the Abel apparatus), under the non-equilibrium method, of a liquid sample in air at atmospheric pressure.

The closed-cup flash point temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane has been determined to be NFTB (No flash to boiling).

Description of key information

The flash-point of the test item was determined in a GLP-compliant study performed in accordance with ISO 13736 BS 2000 Part 170. This test method covers the determination of the closed cup flash point temperature (using the Abel apparatus), under the non-equilibrium method, of a liquid sample in air at atmospheric pressure.

No flash-point was observed below the temperature at which boiling of the test item occurred.
