Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
The oxidising properties of1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethanewere evaluated basing on its chemical structure.
Experience with oxidising substances has provided us with a list of chemical groups and elements that are known to confer oxidising properties (attached table). Furthermore, according to Section 2.13.4.1 of Annex I to the CLP Regulation, an organic liquid does not have to be assessed for oxidising properties if the substance contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen.

1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane is an organic compound which contains oxygen, chlorine and fluorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon, furthermore the substance does not contain any of the chemical groups known to confer oxidising properties.
Therefore, basing on the assessment of its chemical structure, 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane is not expected to have oxidising properties.
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Basing on the assessment of its chemical structure, 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethane is not expected to have oxidising properties.
Executive summary:

The oxidising properties of1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethoxy)ethanewere evaluated basing on its chemical structure.
