DTA Measurements
20.1 mg of sample were weighed into the sample container. When measured at a heating rate of 3 K/min, melting can be observed in the temperature range 30 to 80 °C. The beginning of a measurable exothermic decomposition, which has its maximum at 270 °C and is finished at approx. 300 °C, occurs at 220 °C. The total decomposition heat is approx. 180 kJ/kg. The beginning of a further exothermic decomposition can be observed from 360 °C.
TGA Measurements
25 mg of sample were weighed into a platinum basket. The measurements were performed in an atmosphere of air as well as of nitrogen at a heating rate of 5 K/min. In both cases a complete weight loss occurs in the temperature range 140 °C to 260 °C.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Based on the obtained results, the substance may be considered stable at room temperature.
- Executive summary:
The test item was tested for thermal stability in accordance with OECD 113. DTA measurements were performed in a closed glass ampoule at a heating rate of 3 K/min and TGA measurements were conducted in an open vessel in an atmosphere of air as well as of nitrogen at a heating rate of 5 K/min. In the DTA measurements, an endothermic (melting) but not an exothermic effect (decomposition) takes place below 150 °C. A weight loss (evaporation, sublimation), commencing at a temperature of 140 °C, is evident in the TGA measurements in an atmosphere of air as well as of nitrogen.
Based on these results, the substance may be considered stable at room temperature.
