RESULTS
Explodability
When Finester 2009 was heated from 30 ± 1 °C to 430 °C @ 10 °C/minute in presence of nitrogen, no exothermic peak was observed in any replication.
As there was no exothermic decomposition observed up to 430 °C, Finester 2009 is considered to be ‘non- explosive’.

Study Guidelines
The present study was conducted according to: U.S. EPA, 1996: The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Product Properties Test Guidelines OCSPP 830.6316 “Explodability” (EPA 712-C-96-025), August 1996.

Principle of Explodability
The capacity of the test item to undergo uncontrolled, rapid, violent chemical reaction resulting in a sudden increase in pressure.

 Methodology
Determination for Explodability
Different quantities viz., 3.40, 3.93 and 3.33 mg test item for replication I, II and III were weighed in a separate tarred sample pan using a balance. The balance was allowed to stand to stabilize. After the balance stabilization, the weight (mg) of the test item was recorded. The sample pan was sealed and placed in the instrument (DSC) and the weight (mg) of the test item was entered into the instrument (DSC) for the respective replications. The heating was started from 30 ± 1 °C to 430 °C at a rate of 10°C/minute in presence of nitrogen. There was no endothermic or exothermic peak observed, when the sample pan containing test item was heated up to 430 °C.

The experiment was carried out in three replications.
