Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No data are available for Chlorotrimethylsilane. A 72-hour EC50 value of >1053 mg/L and NOEC of 70 mg/L have however been determined for the effects of a read-across substance, Trimethylsilanol (CAS 1066-40-6), on growth rate of Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) based on intitial measured concentrations of the test substance. When expressed relative to mean measured concentrations the equivalent values are >750 mg/L and 50 mg/L.

Additional information

No data for toxicity to toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria are available for Chlorotrimethylsilane. However a study of toxicity to Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) is available for the related substance Trimethylsilanol. Trimethylsilanol (CAS 1066-40-6) is the hydrolysis product of Chlorotrimethylsilane 75-77-4. The hydrolysis half-life of chlorotrimethylsilane (see Section 5.1.2) indicates that, under conditions relevant to the short-term test, hydrolysis to trimethylsilanol and hydrogen chloride will occur over the course of the test. Effects of hydrogen chloride on aquatic organisms are limited to those that result from changes to pH in unbuffered media and are discussed in the CSR.
