Description of key information

The representative test item of aluminium zirconium chloride hydroxide is characterised as a powder, with ca. 95 % of the material consisting of particles smaller than ca. 140 µm. The median particle size is D50 = 25.4 µm (D10 = 8.2 µm, D90 = 67.9 µm). Approx. 5 % of the material consist of larger particles with sizes in the range of ca. 300-800 µm. These may be primary particles or agglomerates of smaller particles.
The dustiness of this test sample was determined to be ca. 109 mg/g (ca. 11%). The MMAD of airborne dusts generated from this material is estimated as 25.4 µm (with a geometric standard deviation of 2.8). The fractional deposition in the respiratory tract of humans was estimated as follows: head: 50.12%, tracheobronchial region: 0.40%, pulmonary region: 0.64%.
