Investigating the root elongation of Daucus carota and Lactuca sativa in sandy soil, Nagpal (2003) determined a LOEC of 424 mg/l. A study on Typha latifolia tested the uptake of  di-isopropanolamine via roots by bare-root plants that were grown hydroponically. At termination of the experiment after 50 days an uptake and a translocation to the plant leafs was detected. The uptake and translocation was dependent on exposure to di-isopropanolamine and transpired water. However, the substance is protonated at most environmentally relevant pH-values, which restricts its movement through the lipophyllic root membrane (Doucette et al., 2005).
