Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The target chemical benzyl propionate is functionally as well as structurally similar to benzyl acetate . Also the structural similarity more than 60%. Also based on the mechanistic triggers for both the chemicals have similar mechanistic trigger. Thus it can be concluded that benzyl propionate will behave similarly as of benzyl acetate. The read across chemical benzyl acetate can be treated as a reliable read across to the target chemical benzyl propionate

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
low bioaccumulation potential

Additional information

The target chemical benzyl propionate is functionally as well as structurally similar to benzyl acetate . Also the structural similarity more than 60%. Also based on the mechanistic triggers for both the chemicals have similar mechanistic trigger. Thus it can be concluded that benzyl propionate will behave similarly as of benzyl acetate.

Thus, it is expected that benzyl propionate shall also be readily absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract, readily metabolized in the liver and excreted either as a metabolite or unchanged mostly via urine and in trace levels through feces. Thus, the bio-accumulation potential ofbenzyl propionateappears to be low.
