Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The atmospheric oxidation half-life of the substance benzyl propionate was estimated using the level III multimedia model. The half life of benzyl propionate was estimated as 2.4 days and hydroxyl radical reaction rate constant as 0.0000000000068 cm3/molecule-sec at 25 °C. Hence, it can be inferred that benzyl propionate is persistent in air medium and it is not easily phototransformed in airsince it exceeds the threshold criteria of 2 days for persistence.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
2.4 d
