Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One study, investigating the ready biodegradability of methyl laurate (CAS 111-82-0), was used as read across for Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., Me esters (CAS 67762-37-2). This substance is structurally and compositionally related to Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., Me esters. In this GLP-study (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan, 1995) according to OECD 301C (Modified MITI Test) mixture of sewage, soil and natural water was used as inoculum. At test termination after 28 days a degradation of 78% was observed. The 10-d window concept does not apply to the MITI method. The read across substance can be classified as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. Based on the category it can be concluded that Fatty acids, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., Me esters (CAS 67762-37-2) is also readily biodegradable.
