Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No inhibition of microorganisms was observed in the toxicity control of a ready biodegradability test at a concentration of 2.4 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
2.4 mg/L

Additional information

A vald respiration inhibition test is not available. In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, column 2, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is found to be readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant. Based on two valid studies (with DL-Menthone + DL-Isomenthone) the substance proved to be readily biodegradable. The test item concentrations (2 - 12 mg/L DOC) applied in the studies are in the range that can be expected in influents of waste water treatment plants. As further evidence, the toxicity controls in both biodegradation tests showed no inhibition of the microorganisms.

The toxicity control of the ready biodegradability study with DL-Isomenthone showed no inhibition of microorganisms at a concentration of 2.4 mg/L, which can be seen as the NOEC for microbial inhibition.
