Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A 72-hour EC50 value of 65 mg/L (based on growth rate) resulted from a static test in closed flasks with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The EC10 was 45 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
65 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
45 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of the substance Reaction mass of isomenthone and trans-menthone (76.1% Menthone and 23.5% Isomenthone) to freshwater algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) was tested under GLP in a valid study according to OECD TG 201 under static conditions for a period of 72 hours. Due to the volatility of the test substance the test was conducted in closed flasks by avoiding air space. Analytical determination of the test concentrations showed that appropriate dosing was achieved and that the substance was stable over the study period of three days. The 72-hour ErC50 based on growth rate was 65 mg/L and the 72-hour ErC10 was 45 mg/L. A NOEC could not be established and the LOEC was 3.125 mg/L.
