Grade (1996) has been provided as the key study to address the ready biodegradability of the test material. The degradability of the test material was determined in a carbon dioxide evolution test.
Under the conditions of the test no biodegradation of the test material was observed within the 29 Day period. The mineralisation of the test material was 0 % by Day 29. Furthermore the test material did not inhibit the biodegradation of the reference substance, which reached 86 % degradation by Day 23. The study is considered to be reliable, relevant and adequate for risk assessment purposes.
The study was performed to a high standard, in line with GLP and in accordance with standardised guidelines and has thus been assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the principles for assessing data quality set out in Klimisch (1997).
The available data are considered to be complete and the conclusion that the test material is not biodegradable in water has been taken forward for risk assessment.
