Description of key information

The substance was found to dissipate rapidly from the test media in the conducted aquatic toxicity tests, despite the use of semi-static test systems for most studies. Nevertheless, the substance had adverse effects on aquatic freshwater organisms on all three trophic levels tested.

The acute aquatic toxicity studies produced the following results:

96-hour LC50 = 0.69 mg/L in fish

48-hour EC50 = 1.54 mg/L in invertebrates

72-hour ErC50 >0.081 mg/L in algae

Furthermore, the long-term aquatic toxicity studies gave the following results:

22-day NOEC = 0.044 mg/L in fish

9-day NOEC = 0.284 mg/L in fish

21-day NOEC = 0.0185 mg/L in invertebrates

72-hour ErC10 = 0.0439 mg/L in algae

The substance had also some effects on the activity of microorganisms in activated sludge, and the 3-hour NOEC for respiration inhibition was 100 mg/L, whereas the EC50 value was >1000 mg/L.
