Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flammabilty:

The test was performed as stipulated in UN-MTC procedure Test N.1 'Test method for readliy combustible solids' and in EC A.1 0, Guideline EC 440/2008.

A preliminary screening test was performed to determine if propagation by burning with flame or smoldering occurs without wetted zone. The substance was formed into a powder train about 250 mm lang by about 20 mm wide by about 10 mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low heat-conducting base plate.

Disodium-naphthalene-1,5-disulphonate monohydrate melted on contact with the burner flame. A burning of the substance was not observed. The substance is not readily combustible.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammabilty:

According to the UN-MTC procedure Test N.1 'Test method for readliy combustible solids' and in EC A.1 0, Guideline EC40/2008

Disodium-naphthalene-1,5-disulphonate monohydrate is not readily combustible.

Flammability (contact with water):

Disodium-naphthalene-1,5-disulphonate monohydrate does not ignite spontaneously with water and does not liberate gases in hazardous amounts.

Flammability (pyrophoric properties):

The test substance did not deliver indications of pyrophoric properties during the realisation of other tests. Testing according to UN-MTC procedure N.2 and EC A.1 was not necessary.
