Additional information

There are no reliable algal inhibition data available for 3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate (CAS No. 17096-07-0), therefore the potential for aquatic toxicity has been investigated using QSAR software (ECOSAR v2.0).

A 96 hour EC50 value of 7.1E-04 mg/L has been predicted by the software for the effects of 3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate for inhibition effects in green algae. This value is approximately 12x higher than the expected limit of solubility of the substance in water, and accordingly it is unlikely that effects would be expressed. The result is therefore interpreted as 96 hour EC50 > limit of solubility.

The substance undergoes slow hydrolysis at pH 7 but could be more rapid under higher or lower pH conditions in the environment (half-lives 3.6 h at pH 4, 2.3 h at pH 5, 631 h at pH 7 and 5.3 h at pH 9 and 20-25°C (QSAR)). Toxicity studies in freshwater green algae for both hydrolysis products are available and show ErC50s above 100 mg/L in reliable studies conducted in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 201 and GLP.
