Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no reliable short-term toxicity to invertebrates data available for 3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate (CAS No. 17096-07-0), therefore the potential for aquatic toxicity has been investigated using QSAR software (ECOSAR v2.0).

A 48 hour EC50 value of 0.0016 mg/L has been predicted by the software for the effects of 3-[3,3,3-trimethyl-1,1-bis[(trimethylsilyl)oxy]disiloxanyl]propyl methacrylate for immobility in Daphnia magna. This value is approximately 27x higher than the expected limit of solubility of the substance in water, and accordingly it is unlikely that effects would be expressed. The result is therefore interpreted as 48 hour EC50 > limit of solubility.

The substance undergoes slow hydrolysis at pH 7 but could be more rapid under higher or lower pH conditions in the environment (half-lives 3.6 h at pH 4, 2.3 h at pH 5, 631 h at pH 7 and 5.3 h at pH 9 and 20-25°C (QSAR)). Short-term toxicity studies in aquatic invertebrates for both hydrolysis products are available and show EC50s above 100 mg/L in reliable studies conducted in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 202 and GLP.
