Representative DSC curve: see picture below.
With both experiments, an endothermic peak between 225°C and 400°C was observed. It was due to reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.
After the experiments, a brown/black residue remained at the bottom of the sample container. The sample container had expanded due to pressure. It indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test item during the test.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- other: not classified under CLP or GHS
- Conclusions:
- The test item has no explosive properties.
- Executive summary:
The DSC screening test for explosiveness was determined in a GLP study. From duplicate measurements it was concluded that the substance does not decomposes exothermically at temperatures of < 550°C. Therefore it could safely be concluded that the exothermic decomposition energy is < 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is < 500°C.
The acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives do not have to be applied accoring to the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Appendix 6 "Screening procedures" -Screening procedures for substances which may have explosive properties. The substance has no explosive properties.
