Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In general, no intrinsic effects among the members of the SCAE C2 -8 category towards algae were observed. All EC/EL50(72h) values were above the limit of water solubility.

In the key study, Desmodesmus subspicatus was tested according to EU Method C.3 and to GLP as a limit test (Rieche 1995).

No effects on cell growth were stated at concentrations above the water solubility (ErC50 > 0.05 mg/L) in the filtered emulsion of the test medium, while presumably physical effects were observed in the emulsion without filtration (ErC50 < 100 mg/L, nominal).

In a supporting study, a read across from, Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS: 85049-37-2), the marine alga Skeletonema costatum was tested with WAF according to ISO 10253. The resulting ErL50(72h) was determined as 281.4 mg/L (nominal, Hudson 2000).
