L-Alanine was predicted to be readily biodegradable by using the calculation method BIOWIN (Version 4.10). Supporting studies also indicate that L-alanine is readily biodegradable.

In accordance with Annex IX sections 9.2.1.2 column 2 and section 9.2.1.4 column 2 simulation tests on the biodegradation in surface water or sediment are not necessary, because L-alanine is readily biodegradable.

In accordance with Annex IX section 9.2.1.3 column 2 simulation tests on the biodegradation in soil are not necessary, because L-alanine is readily biodegradable.
