Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- 819.5 mg/L
- at the temperature of:
- 30 °C
Additional information
In the key study (Sunderkötter, 2011), the water solubility of the test material was determined in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 105 using the shake flask method. Although the report lacks detail, referal of the standardised guideline together with the fact that the performing test laboratory is familiar with testing, and analysing, the test material, the data have been assigned a reliability score of 2 and are considered to be reliable with restrictions. Under the conditions of the study, the water solubility of the test material was determined to be 819.5 - 846.5 mg/L.
Supporting information is available in the form of a study taken from in-house data in which the water solubility of dipotassium heptaflourotantalate was determined. Under the conditions of the study tantalum release was measured to be 300 mg/L. This is equivalent to 653.3 mg/L of the test material. This value is in good agreement with findings from the aforementioned key study. In the second supporting study, also taken from in-house data, the water solubility of dipotassium heptaflourotantalate was determined, by ICP-OES, to be 2100 mg/L. This value is considered to be suitably similar to that of the key study for reference as a suporting study.
Since the studies were not conducted to GLP, or to standardised guidelines, and as the reports contained very little information on the methodology, the reports were assigned reliability scores of 4 in accordance with Klimisch (1997).
Literature data are available in the form of an abstract and two peer reviewed handbooks.
The water solubility of the test material was reported to be 5 g/L, at a temperature of 0 ºC, and 600 g/L at 100 °C in the first of the two peer reviewed handbooks and 0.5 g/100 mL at room temperature in the other. Although no information is given on methodology or guidelines followed during testing, the handbooks have been peer reviewed and have been assigned reliability scores of 2. However, since the values quoted in literature do not corroborate experimental results, the literature data have been disregarded.
