Additional information

Stability

Due to indirect photodegradation released to the atmosphere dibenzylether is unstable with an estimated half-life of 18.26 h by the reaction with OH radicals. No high potential is given for long range transport.

Biodegradation

Since within 14 days 0 % biodegradation of the test item was observed, dibenzylether has to be considered as not readily biodegradable.

Bioaccumulation

Experimentally determined BCF-values were in the range of 171 - 429. The substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation.

Transport and distribution

Calculated logKoc-values were in the range of 2.65 - 2.91. Dibenzylether has a moderate sorption to soil and sediment, and a slow migration potential to groundwater.

The distribution in a "unit world" was calculated on the physico-chemical properties. The main target compartments for dibenzyl ether are water with 54.4 %, air with 27.8 %, soil with 8.8 % and sediment with 8.9%.
