First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air and seek medical attention,

treat symptomatically give artificial respiration if

necessary.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with water for at least ten minutes, if

irritation persists seek immediate medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, treat symptomatically do not induce

vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: On combustion nitrogen and carbon oxides, soot and hydrogen

fluoride may be formed. Extinguish fires with dry chemical

powder, carbon dioxide, foam, water spray, sand or earth.

Breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Solid: Cover spillage with moist earth or sand. Sweep-up

and deposit in suitable containers for disposal. Solution:

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear solvent proof gloves and goggles giving complete

protection to the eyes. Contaminated clothing should be

washed thoroughly before reuse or destroyed. Coveralls

should be worn during handling, gloves should be nitrile

rubber.

Storage: Store in heavy duty polyethylene drums and under nitrogen

as the substance oxidatively degrades in air.

Transport: FAP will be transported under nitrogen as a solution in
ethyl acetate in heavy duty polyethylene drums.

acetate solution, the standard industrial form for handling

the substance, may create an explosive atmosphere.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Complete conversion will take place when used as intended.

Spills should be collected after being absorbed using earth

or sand and disposed at an approved incinerator.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: FAP will degrade in an oxygenated aqueous alkaline (pH9)

medium with a half life of 1.1 hours at 25 deg C

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not appropriate

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: FAP may be destroyed by incineration in a suitable facility

with scrubbing equipment to remove any hydrogen fluride

formed
