The mean burning rate of the mixture of the test item/cellulose 4:1 was 0.019 g/s. According to the UN manual the tolerable range is ± 10 % of the mean burning rate (0.017 – 0.021 g/s). As the burning rate of the test item mixture clearly differed from the relevant reference mixture the observed deviations had no influence on the final result.

The mean burning rate of the mixture of the test item/cellulose 1:1 was 0.049 g/s. According to the UNmanual the tolerable range is ± 10 % of the mean burning rate (0.044 – 0.054 g/s). As the burning rate of the test item mixture clearly differed from the relevant reference mixture the observed deviations had no influence on the final result.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Based on the test results the test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid, division 5.1 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods/Manual of Test and Criteria and according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, 2.14
Executive summary:

The objective of this study was the determination of the oxidizing properties of the test item according to the

Recommendations on the TRANSPORT OF DANGEROUS GOODS: Manual of Tests and Criteria, 6thedition, New York and Geneva, 2015: Part III, Division 5.1, Section 34.4.3, Test O.3 Gravimetric test for oxidizing solids

The burning time of the mixtures of the test item with cellulose (4:1 and 1:1) was greater than the burning time of the reference mixture of calcium peroxide and cellulose (1:2). Based on the test results the test item does not have to be classified as oxidizing solid according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008.
