Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
sediment toxicity: long-term
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
The chemical safety assessment does not indicate the need to investigate further the effects of the UVCB substance on sediment organisms (column II waiver). Instead, the substance toxicity to sediment is driven by the assessment of the individual transformed UVCB constituents (assessment entity approach). Nickel and Cobalt represent the relevant constituents that are released from pNMC oxide (=inorganic UVCB). The information on sediment toxicity for these elements that is provided in the summary of IUCLID Section 6 is:

Freshwater environment:
PNEC sediment for Ni: 109 mg Ni/kg dw
PNEC sediment for Co: 53.8 mgCa/kg dw

Marine environment:
PNEC sediment for Ni: 109 mg Ni/kg dw
PNEC sediment for Co: 69.8 mg Co/kg dw

Remarks:
Data on the substance toxicity to sediment organisms is driven by the assessment of the individual transformed UVCB constituents (assessment entity approach). Relevant information is reported in the IUCLID summary, Section 7
