- Type:
- log Pow
- Partition coefficient:
- ca. 4.48
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:

- Details on results:
- Expressed as mg test substance in methanol, the three extraction steps yielded 15.2 mg/l, 2.7 mg/l and 0.5 mg/l respectively.
Therefore it was decided that a threefold extraction was sufficient for a quantitative extraction of the test substance from the n-octanol to the aqueous phase. The solubility of the test substance in n-octanol was determined to be < 18.5 mg/l,
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The partition coefficient Pow was estimated to be <3.29E-05 (log Pow <-4.48).
- Executive summary:
The determination of the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) was based on the following guidelines:
OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals No.107: "Partittion Coefficient (n-octanol/water)", Adopted May 12, 1981.
EEC directive 92/69 EEC, Part !, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A8 "Partition coefficient", EEC Publication no. L383, December 1992.
The solubility of Pacified Reactive Black 31 in n-octanol was determined to be <18.4 mg/l. In another study the water solubility of Pacified Reactive Black 31 was determined to be >560 g/l.
Hence the partition coeffiicent Pow was estimated to be <3.29E-05 (log Pow <-4.48).
