Description of key information
Butyl-(S)-lactate is a clear organic liquid with a characteristic odour having a melting point of –23 °C and a boiling point of 187 °C at atmospheric pressure. At 20 °C, the density of the liquid is 0.984 g/mL and the vapour pressure is 30.0 Pa. The substance has a water solubility of 45.0 g/l at 20 °C and the related log Pow is 1.10. The flash point of the organic substance is 79 °C and the auto-ignition temperature is 382 °C. The absolute viscosity is 2.7735 mPa s at 303.15 K. In an OECD 112 study, no measurable dissociation constant was found.
