First-aid measures

General advice: Move out of dangerous area. Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Do not leave the victim unattended.

If inhaled: Move to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.

In case of skin contact: Immediate medical treatment is necessary as untreated wounds from corrosion of the skin heal slowly and with difficulty. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If on skin, rinse well with water. If on clothes, remove clothes. Flush contaminated skin with plenty of water.

In case of eye contact: Small amounts splashed into eyes can cause irreversible tissue damage and blindness.

Remove contact lenses. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Continue rinsing eyes during transport to hospital. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed: Keep respiratory tract clear. Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media : Carbon  dioxide (CO2); Dry chemical.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water; Foam; High volume water jet

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Use personal protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up: Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13). Do not flush with water.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling: Do not breathe vapours/dust.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

For personal protection see section 8.

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Open drum carefully as content may be under pressure.

To avoid spills during handling keep bottle on a metal tray. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Keep away from combustible material.

Hygiene measures : When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Prevent unauthorized access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards. To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight.

Advice on common storage: Never allow product to get in contact with water during storage.

Storage class (TRGS 510): 4.2, Pyrophoric and self-heating hazardous materials

Other data: Keep in a dry place. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Control parameters: Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Exposure parameters:

1)Engineering measures: Handle only in a place equipped with local exhaust (or other appropriate exhaust).

2)Personal protective equipment:

Eye protection: safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166. Wear face-shield and protective suit for abnormal processing problems.

Hand protection material: leather, aluminum-coated

Break through tiime: <60 min

Skin and body protection: impervious clothing

Respiratory protection: ABEK-P3-filter

Filter type: combined particulates, inorganic and acidic gas/vapour, ammonia/amines and organic vapour type (ABEK-P)

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hazardous reactions: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed. Reacts violently with water. Avoid moisture.

Conditions to avoid: Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge. Heat, flames and sparks. Exposure to air.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods - product: Do not dispose of waste into sewer. Dispose of in accordance with the European Directives on waste and hazardous waste.

In accordance with local and national regulations. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with chemical or used container. According to the European Waste Catalogue, Waste Codes are not product specific, but application specific. Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal authorities. Send to a licensed waste management company.

Waste treatment methods - contaminated packaging: Empty remaining contents. Dispose of as unused product. Do not re-use empty containers. Do not burn, or use a cutting torch on, the empty drum.
