First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial
respiration - preferably mouth to mouth. If breathing is
difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush with saline, or water if saline is not
immediately available. Flush for at least 15 minutes. Get
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately wash with plenty of soap and water for at least
15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Get medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If symptoms occur, give two glasses of water, do not induce
vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Oxides of carbon,
nitrogen, sulphur and phosphorus, together with alkylamines
and hydrogen sulphide, may be released if the substance is
involved in a fire.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate the spill area. Floor may be slippery; use care to
avoid falling. Remove contaminated clothing promptly and
wash affected skin areas with soap and water. Wear self-
contained breathing apparatus (MSHA/NIOSH - approved or
equivalent). Wear chemical splash goggles. Wear protective
clothing. Contain spills with inert material (e.g. sand or
earth). Scoop or shovel the mixture into a suitable
container for recovery or disposal and the inert material
used in to separate containers for disposal. Flush cleaned
area with water to a contaminated (chemical) sewer.

Handling and storage

Handling: Respiratory protection : Use an NIOSH-approved supplied -
air respirator when exposed to vapours from heated
material. Ventilation : Local exhaust at bulk vessel when
handling heated material; general mechanical ventilation
recommended. Protective gloves : Impervious to penetration.
Eye protection : Chemical goggles or face shield are
essential. Other protective equipment : If skin contact or
contamination of clothing is likely, protective clothing
should be worn.

Storage: Preferably at ambient; not above 40 deg C.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with water, as X3761 can be hydrolysed;
however contact with water will not create an additional
hazard. Avoid contact with oxidising agents.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Do not flush spills with water. Take up large spillages
with pump or vacuum. Wear protective clothing as in 2.3.1.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Do not flush spills with water. Absorb with a dry chemical
absorbent and destroy as in 6.1.3. Wear protective clothing
as in 2.3.1.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incinerate in an ecologically approved chemical
incinerator.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: No attempt at recovery should be made by the public at
large. Skilled workers should be summoned; they should
contain all spills and recover as in 6.1.1.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: No attempt at neutralisation should be made by the public
at large. Skilled workers should be summoned to neutralise
as in 6.1.2.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This should be organised only by skilled workers.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
