Description of key information

Skin: in a human test, the test item was applied through textile as pure substance and mixed with water and peanut oil, respectively. No irritation effects related to the substance occured. The weak irritation signs (redness) that were fully reversible within the observation period (11 d) also occurred in the negative controls (textile only without test item). Therefore, they were considered mechanic but not substance-related effects. No signs of corrosion or edema occurred.

Eye: no signs of eye irritation occurred in two OECD 405 in vivo studies (rabbit). Unsignificant chemosis occured after application but was fully reversible within 48 h.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

No signs (skin/eye) of irritation occurred in the in vivo studies (humans, rabbits). Therefore, the substance is not classifiable.
