Appearance :

On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, Isopentyl propionate was determine to be a colorless liquid.

Melting point :

The Freezing point of Isopentyl propionate; CAS No. 105-68-0 was determined with freezing temperature method and it was determine to be less than -7.61 °C at 967.3 hPa.

Boiling Point :

The boiling point determination of Test item Isopentyl propionate (CAS No. 105-68-0 ) was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The mean boiling point was determine to be 158°C at 964.2 hPa.

Density :

The density of test item Isopentyl propionate (CAS No. 105-68-0) was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730 : 1994 (Reaffirmed 2010) – Method for Determination of Density of Liquids (First Revision) using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test item was  determine to be 0.8649 g/cm³ at 20°C and 964.1 hPa.

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form. It is concluded that chemical isopentyl propionate physically appears as a colorless liquid.

Vapour pressure :

Vapour pressure of isopentyl propionate is determine to be 1.3331 kPa at minimum temperature 51.27 Deg C & 202.6284 kPa at maximum temperature 187.34 Deg C.

Partition coefficient :

The Log Pow value was determined to be 3.365 ± 0.004 dimensionless at 25°C.This value indicates that the substance is hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility :

The water solubility determination of test item Isopentyl propionate;CAS No.105-68-0 was done by spectrophotometric method. The water solubility was determine to be 194.505 mg/L at 25°C.

Surface tension :

Surface tension of isopentyl propionate is determine to be 0.02325 N/m at 25 Deg C.

Flash point :

The flash point determination of Isopentyl propionate (CAS No. 105-68-0)was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was observed to be 41.3°C at 964.3 hPa.
