Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Environmental fate properties:

The registered substance contains no organic functional groups that may hydrolyze under environmental condition like alkyl halides, amides, amines, epoxides, esters. The substance consists only of organic functional groups that are relatively or completely inert with respect to hydrolysis. Based on the chemical structure an estimation of the hydrolysis rate is not possible. This statement is supported by one hydrolysis study performed on the registered substance according to OECD Guideline 111 but without GLP statement. The disappearance of the parent compound after 5 days at 40 °C and at environmentally relevant pH is less than 10%. Therefore, at environmentally relevant pH, the registered substance is considered hydrolytically stable. In addition, the registered substance is not readily biodegradable (7% degradation after 28 days). Therefore, in the absence of other biodegradation studies, the registered substance may be considered potentially Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) in the environment.

Finally, as the registered substance is considered to have a low potential for adsorption (octanol water partition coefficient, log Kow < 3.0), the adsorption study does not need to be conducted, according to REACH Annex VIII column 2.

Regarding the bioaccumulation potential, with a log Kow at 1.95, the registered substance does not bioaccumulate and therefore there is no potential of secondary poisoning in the higher members of the food chain.

Aquatic toxicity:

Reliable short-term toxicity tests results are available on freshwater fish (Brachydanio rerio), aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) for the registered substance. All E(L)C50 values were reported to be greater than the highest tested concentration, 100 mg/L. In addition, no toxic effect of the registered substance to microorganisms was observed up to 100 mg/L, in the biodegradation study.

As no hazards were identified, the substance is not classified for the environment and no PNEC can be derived. Therefore, the exposure assessment and risk characterisation is not required.

Conclusion on classification

No harmonised classification is available on the registered substance.

E(L)C50 values > 100 mg/L; EC10 algae > 1 mg/L; not readily biodegradable; log Kow < 4.0 (= 1.95).

Classification according to the Annex VI of the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP):The registered substance is not classified for the environment.
