Description of key information
96 h - LC 50 for fresh-water fish is > 100 mg/L (OECD 203).
72 h ErC10 and 72 h ErC50 values were derived as 5.1 mg/L and 74.9 mg/L respectively.
Daphnia magna EC50 (48 h) = 48 mg/L and EC10 (21 d) = 13.77 (OECD 201 and 211).
Additional information
The substance was tested for short-term toxicity in aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna), algal growth inhibition (Desmodesmus subspicatus) and an activated sludge respiration inhibition. In addition, short-term toxicity testing in fish (Brachydanio rerio) was conducted on a supporting substance (N;N;N';N'';N''-Pentamethyldipropylentriamin), based on read-across from a supporting study (structural analogue or surrogate).
The key study for the acute fish toxicity of the substance was based upon the results of an acute toxicity study (limit test)on the effects of N,N-bis[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-N',N'-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine on zebra fish (Danio rerio). The test was conducted in accordance with OECD 203 (18 June 2019). LC 50 for fresh-water fish is > 100 mg/L.
A guideline study on the toxicity of the substance to a freshwater alga (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was conducted, and from which the 72 h ErC10 and 72 h ErC50 values were derived. EC 50 was 74.9 mg/L and EC10 5.1 mg/L.
The lowest aquatic L(E)C50was observed in Daphnia magna (EC50= 48 mg/L).
A semi-static reproduction test with Daphnia magna was conducted according to OECD 211 (02 October 2012, with TOC analysis to determine the test item exposure concentration) with the substance N,N-bis[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-N',N'-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine, CAS 33329-35-0 in order to investigate the chronic effects of the test item on daphnids. In the present study, five nominal concentrations of 0.33 – 27 mg/L test item were used.
The measured geometric mean TOC concentrations in the treatment groups were 102.0 – 102.7 % of the nominal concentrations.
The EC10 was determined to be at 13.77 mg/L, based on the mortalities of the test item treatments
