Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 48 hour EC50 for acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates is 5.77 mg/L. TLM QSAR modelling was used to calculate the LL50 value of isoprene towards D. Magna. The calculated LL50 value is 32.098 mg/L.

The lowest value was used for chemical safety assessment.

Additional information

Huntingdon Life Science (2004) reports a 48-hour EC50 value of 5.77 mg/L for Daphnia magna in a standard OECD TG 202 test. This result was from a static study with analytical confirmation of the exposure concentrations. The result is based on the mean of measured exposure concentrations. This study was conducted under GLP to standard guidelines. It was listed as Klimisch 1 in the OECD SIDS for isoprene and was also used by the Olefins Panel of the American Chemistry Council in the Category Summary for C5 non-cyclics for the US High Production Volume Chemical Program. Additional data are available regulatory documents and QSARs for isoprene.
