Additional information

The reported acute toxicity of DMF to Daphnia magna ranges from EC50(48h) >100 up to 14500 mg/L. The EC50 > 100 mg/L (BASF AG, 1992) following OECD Guideline 202 represents for formal reasons the lowest valid EC50 value. However, this value is not taken into account for the chemical safety assessment due to the fact that this was only a limit test. A more realistic value is given by a study conducted by Jarosz, T. (2008). This result (EC50 (48h) = 13100 mg/L) will be used in the risk assessment for N,N-dimethylformamide.

Additionally, a Daphnia magna study is conducted in accordance with US-EPA (1975) EPA-660/3-75-009 under static test conditions. Thereby EC50 were derived for an exposure duration of 24h and 48h: EC50 (24 h): 26300 mg/L; EC50 (48 h): 14500 mg/L
