Description of key information

The acute toxicity of 4-ADPA to algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was conducted in a static test according to German standard method (DIN 38 412, Part 9). After 72 hours of exposure an ECr50 of 4.8 mg/L (nominal) was obtained (Bayer, 1991). Considering the effect of degradation in water, an effective concentration of 3.75 mg/l is calculated and reported here as a more realistic ECr50.

Additional information

The half-life time of 3.5 d (BIS, 2004) is used here in IUCLID 5 for the calculation of effective concentration as geometric mean instead of 2.5 d used in OECD SIDS. The value of 2.5 d was extrapolated from the half-life time at 50°C, but 3.5 d was real experimental result at 20°C (BIS, 2004).
