Conclusions:
The mean surface tension of MEA-LAS as a 1 g/L solution was 34.1 mN/m at 20°C (measured by ring method (EU Method A.5)).
Executive summary:

The surface tension of MEA-LAS was determined following the EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension).

The measurements was made using a commercially available tensiometer. The measurement ring was made of a platinum-iridium wire of about 0.3 mm thickness and a mean circumference of approximately 40 mm.The solution (1 g/L) to be measured was transferred to the measurement vessel, taking care to avoid foaming. The measurement vessel was placed on the table of the test apparatus. The measurement vessel was raised until the ring was immersed below the surface of the solution. Subsequently, the tabletop was lowered gradually and evenly at a rate of approximately 0.5 cm min-1to detach the ring from the surface until the maximum force was reached. The force was read on the tensiometer. After completing the first measurement, a second test run was performed to confirm the first measurement.

The mean surface tension of MEA-LAS as a 1 g/L solution was 34.1 mN/m at20°C.

This surface tension test is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements of the EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension).
