Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Acute tests evaluating the toxicity of 2-methyl-N-(4-sulfamoylphenyl) prop-2-enamide (SPM-N) to aquatic organisms from three different trophic levels are available. The substance did not cause any adverse effects on fish survival (LC50 (96 h) > 29 mg/L, measured), aquatic invertebrates mobility (EC50 (48 h)> 29 mg/L, measured) or algal growth (EC50 (48 h) > 30 mg/L). No significant effects were observed on the activity of activated sludge microorganisms after 3 hours of exposure, leading to an EC50 > 100 mg/L (nominal). This statement is supported by the results of the toxicity control in the biodegradation test (see IUCLID section 5.2.1) which showed that SPM-N is not inhibitory to aquatic microorganisms (35% biodegradation within 14 days).

Based on the available information, SPM-N is considered to be not acutely toxic to aquatic organisms up to limit of its water solubility (30.3 mg/L).
