Additional information

Hydrolysis and phototransformation in water are expected to be insignificant. However, there is evidence of phototransformation in air. The European Union Risk Assessment Report for BBP gives a half life of 1.5 days (GEMS, 1984), and also of 17 hours using the TGD default OH radical concentration. The RAR uses the longer half life of 1.5 days in the EUSES calculations.

The AOPWIN model (v1.92) which forms part of EPI Suite, estimates a half-life of 11.616 hours. We have included this as a key study for this endpoint. However, since the TGD default OH radical concentration is the higher value, and we do not have access to the GEMS model, we use this value in this assessment.
