Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
activated sludge respiration inhibition testing
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is found to be readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant

Description of key information

The substance was not inhibiting the microbial activity at concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
2 mg/L

Additional information

The substance allyl cyclohexylpropionate was not inhibiting to micro-organisms in the study on ready biodegradability at a test concentration of 2 mg/L. This finding is supported by a study on microbial inhibition using Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli and other bacterial strains (Morris et al. 1979) and finding no effects at test concentrations of 2 mg/plate applied as 10% (w/v) solutions of the test substance in 95% (v/v) ethanol. In the absence of a test on microbial toxicity, the result of the study on ready biodegradability can be used to derive a NOEC for toxicity to micro-organisms in accordance with ECHA guidance R.7b. The highest test concentration of 2 mg/L applied in the valid study on ready biodegradability was used as the NOEC in the hazard assessment.
