Administrative data

First-aid measures

General information: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely. In case of persisting adverse effects, consult a physician.

After inhalation: Ensure supply of fresh air. Remove affected persons from dangerous area by observing suitable respiratory protection measures. Summon a doctor immediately.

After skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and water. Seek medical advice immediately.

After eye contact: In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately for at least 15 minutes with plenty of water. Seek medical assistance.

After ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Summon a doctor immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray jet; Alcohol-resistant foam; Carbon dioxide; extinguishing powder

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases: In the event of fire, the following can be released: Chlorine (Cl2)

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Use self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate endangered area; Refer to protective measures listed in sections 7 and 8 of the safety data sheet.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods for cleaning up/taking up: Scoop-up mechanically. Send in suitable containers for recovery or disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling - Advice on safe handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid absolutely dust formation and dust depositation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes

Storage - Requirements for storage rooms and vessels: Storage rooms must be properly ventilated. Keep container hermetically closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

- Workplace exposure limit value: 0.5 mg/m^3 respirable fraction for antimony and antimony compounds

- Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection: If workplace exposure limits are exceeded,  a respiration protection approved for this particular job must be worn. In case of dust formation, take appropriate measures for breathing protection in the event workplace thresholds values are not specified.

Hand protection:

Sufficient protection is given wearing suitable protective gloves checked according to i.e. EN 374, in the event of risk of skin contact with the product . Before use, the protective glove should be tested in any case for its specific work-station suitability (i.e. mechanical resistance, product compatibility and antistatic properties). Adhere to the manufacturer’s instructions and information relating to the use, storage, care and replacement of protective gloves. Protective gloves shall be replaced immediately when physically damaged or worn. Design operations thus to avoid permanent use of protective gloves.

General protective and hygiene measures

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. At work do not eat, drink, smoke or take drugs. Remove contaminated clothing. After worktime and during work intervals the affected skin areas must be thoroughly cleaned.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Protect against humidity.

Materials to avoid: alcalis, aluminium, sodium, potassium

Hazardous decomposition products: chlorine; hydrogen chloride (HCl).

Disposal considerations

Product:

- Product: Provide for recycling by the manufacturer or send to an authorised special waste facility or treatment facility adhering to the Special Waste Regulations. Generally, chemical residues must be handled and disposed of as special waste. Please contact the competent authority that provides information for proper disposal, recycling or reclamation of the substance.

Packaging:

Dispose of in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Packaging that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of as product waste.
