No pentyl esters were found that cochromatographed with the standards in the gas chromatographic analysis in preparations of any of the tissues, pancreas, lung or liver.
In addition, gas chromatography - mass spectrometry was also unable to identify any pentyl esters of fatty acids in liver or lung extracts.

The esterification of fatty acids by ethanol via a
nonoxidative pathway has been well documented and has been
implicated in toxic effects in animals and humans.
The administration of 1-pentanol (0.25 ml/kg; i.p.; male SD
rats) did not result in esterification of fatty acids.
According to the authors these data suggest that chain
length may be important in the ability of alcohols to
esterify fatty acids in vivo.
