Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two lines of evidence support that DETDA will not readily biodegrade. Ultimate and primary biodegradation in a typical or "evaluative" aquatic environment were estimated using Biowin 3 and Biowin 4. Experimental data showed less than 1 % biodegradation after 28 days. Therefore, it may be concluded that DETDA will not readily biodegrade in the environment.

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

In a weight of evidence approach with a poorly described experimental study and a QSAR model, sufficient information is available to classify DETDA as not biodegradable. The experimental data showed less than 1 % biodegradation after 28 days (BayerAG 1985).

This experimental value is supported by Biowin3 and Biowin4 models which yielded estimates of weeks to months for the time required to achieve complete ultimate and primary biodegradation of DETDA in a typical or "evaluative" aquatic environment.
