First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Ensure fresh air.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse out immediately with large quantities of water. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash off with large quantities of water or soap and water. In the case of visible changes to the skin or complaints,
seek medical advice (if possible, present the label or safety data sheet).

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Get the casualty to drink copious amounts of water in small portions. Do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Fine water spray, extinguishing powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide, sand.

Product arising from burning: Nitrous gases, carbon oxides.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Use a self-contained respirator.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear personal protective equipment (see "handling"). Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. Avoid the inhalation of aerosols and vapours. Do not allow to enter aquatic environments, waste water or the soil. Do not wash away with water.

In the case of small amounts of liquid that has escaped: Take up using liquid-binding material, e.g. kieselguhr and dispose of properly.

In the case of larger quantities: Dam in using suitable material (e.g. earth) and pump into suitable containers. Dispose of in sealed containers that
are labelled according to the regulations. Remove any slippery layer that may remain using detergents/soap solution or other biodegradable cleaner.

Handling and storage

All work processes must always be designed so that the exposure as a result of dermal contact with the substance is as low as possible. Eye contact should be avoided. As far as possible, closed equipment should be used during filling, transfer, metered feeding and sampling. Access by moisture must definitely be avoided. Ensure good room and workplace ventilation and exhaust ventilation. If technical extraction or ventilation measures are not possible or are insufficient, suitable respiratory protection should be worn. Tested protective gloves and suitable protective clothing should be worn in order to avoid dermal contact. The wearing of eye protection (e.g. tightly fitting goggles) is recommended. Outdoor clothes should be kept separate from working clothes. In closed spaces vapours may form mixtures with air which lead to explosion in the presence of ignition sources, even in the case of empty, uncleaned containers. Keep away from ignition sources and do not smoke. Take measures to prevent static discharge.

Store in unbreakable containers in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep containers tightly closed and secure them against falling.
Protect against moisture. Avoid product residues on the packing drums. Be sure to prevent the substance entering the soil.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: KANNE SB SPUND, 25 KG ; FASS SB SICKEN, 180 KG

Exposure controls / personal protection

General protection and hygiene measures
Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling.

Personal protection equipment
Respiratory protection: In case of long or strong exposure: gas mask filter ABEK .
Hand protection: rubber gloves .
Eye protection: tight fitting protective goggles . Provide work station with eye bathing equipment.
Skin protection: protective clothing .

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: No dangerous reactions known if stored and handled properly. Conditions to be avoided: moisture. Protect against the effect of air. Reacts with acids. The reaction occurs forming ethanol and heat. In addition, the flash-point is lowered.

Chemical reaction with water: Reacts with water to form ethanol and heat.

Dust explosion: Not applicable because the substance is a liquid.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is possible to reutilize clean product residues. Reutilization is not envisaged in the case of contaminated product residues or wastes.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Careful controlled hydrolysis.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Careful controlled hydrolysis.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal in accordance with the regulations by means of incineration in a special-waste incineration plant. Local official regulations must be observed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Small quantities of substance that have entered the waste water as a result of the production process are removed in the company's own waste-water treatment plant.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Packaging must be emptied completely (droplet-free, trickle-free, spatula-clean). Observing the local/national rules and regulations that apply in each case, packaging is to be preferably reutilized or recycled. Packaging that cannot be cleaned must be disposed of in the same way as the substance.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Inapplicable because use in the public domain is not envisaged.
