Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

As the available data does not allow to draw a definitive conclusion on the PBT or vPvB properties of MTBAC nor any of the other category members, the screening criteria as mentioned in the ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.11: PBT assessment, are used to decide whether MTBAC potentially fulfills the PBT or vPvB criteria.

As MTBAC is not readily biodegradable it is potentially persistent based on the screening criteria. As its log Pow is < 4.5, MTBAC is not expected to be bio-accumulating. Although no classification for carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, reproduction/developmental toxicity or specific target organ toxicity is applicable and the acute L(E)C50 values are > 0.1 mg/L, a definitive classification as not T is not possible, due to the lack of chronic environmental toxicity studies.  However, since the substance is not B, it can be concluded that the substance is not PBT/vPvB.
