Test system

Type of coverage:
occlusive
Preparation of test site:
other: Shaved and one side was abraded.
Vehicle:
other: Not clear whether material is inherently a paste or has been formed into a paste
Controls:
not required
Amount / concentration applied:
0.5 g of test material applied.
Duration of treatment / exposure:
Dressings were removed after 24 hours.
Observation period:
7 days.
Number of animals:
3 males and 3 females.
Details on study design:
Entire back and flank of rabbits was shaved before treatment, and then shaven skin on one side of the animal was abraded. Gauze patches of 2.5 X 2 .5cm with 0.5 g of the test material was applied to the abraded and intact skin. The patches were covered with an impermeable material and fastened to the body with adhesive tape. The skin reaction was appraised upon removal and during an observation period of 7 days on the basis of an evaluation scheme.
