Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Some data regarding short-term toxicity to algae are reported in database ECOTOX, EPA for Sulfadimidine CAS 57-68-1

- IC50 Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 72h = 8.7 mg/l (ref. Yang, Environ. Toxicol. Chem.27(5): 1201-1208, 2008)

- NOEC Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 72h = 1 mg/l (ref. Yang, Environ. Toxicol. Chem.27(5): 1201-1208, 2008)

Some data regarding toxicity to aquatic plants are available always in database ECOTOX, EPA for Sulfadimidine CAS 57-68-1. These data should be reported in section 6.1.6 of this IUCLID dossier but they are reported here because are used only to support the toxicity data to algae. Sulfadimidine is white/whitish yellow powder (see section 4.1 of this IUCLID dossier) so it should have no effect on light absorption of algae. No influence of Sulfadimidine on absorption of light is confirmed by the toxicity data obtained for Lemna gibba that are similar or no much different to data for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata: NOEC 7 days Lemna gibba (growth rate) = 1 mg/l and NOEC 7 days Lemna gibba (biomass) = 0.3 mg/l. As indicated in OECD 201 the values based upon average specific growth rate will generally be higher than results based upon biomass but the use of growth rate is preferred to biomass due to less dipendence of species used for the test.

According to the CLP Regulation (EC n.1272/2008) the data of toxicity to aquatic algae for Sulfadimidine are of no concern for acute aquatic toxicity.
