Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Since the registered substance is known to dissociate in water, and has been shown to be readily biodegradable, EPISUITE (HENRYWIN v3.20) was used to calculate Henry's Law constant for the free acid (octadec-9-enoic acid).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Henry's Law constant for octadec-9-enoic acid (oleic acid), was calculated to be 1.97 to 4.54 Pa.m3/moL indicating that the dissociated acid has a tendency to volatilise from the aqueous media. However, the test item as a whole has been shown to be non-hazardous to the environment and the predicted percentage in the atmospheric compartment is low. It is therefore concluded that the registered substance presents no hazard to air.
